Unforgettable Three : Khona, Ekolabyo, Vyasa

Here reader will find this English rendering of three short novels written originally in Bangla—Shahzad Firdous’s Vyasa and Masum Reza’s Ekolobya and Samina Lutfa Nitra’s Khona. These three novels are based on the life and deeds of three unforgettable characters of ancient India, Vyasa, Ekolobya and Khona. Shahzad’s Vyasa is at once ragged and tender, a visionary and a philosopher and a poet, a person of flesh and blood like us. Reza’s Ekolobya is just like epic—heroic, noble and tragic. The two male characters one legendary but Nitra’s Khona—the third one is a real work an of flesh and blood whose incredible deeds, however, have made her a legendary character. Kabir Chowdhury (1923-2011) is a noted translator, critic and essayist. His elegent English translation poems, novels and short stories have been widely acclaimed at home and abroad. He has received many national and international awards for his contributions in the field of literature, education and peace.
