Aide-Momories 1943-1954

The book is a collection of articles, each a self-contained narrative on a particular subject. The subjects are places, people and events of the past when I was a child and a boy, memories of which still linger in mind, some vivid, some faded. The remembrance of things past, as Proust so lyrically expressed, begins from 1943 when my age was near about four and I became conscious about myself and the surrounding world for the first time. It was a small world seen mostly through a window, as it happens with most children, and the wonder and excitement of the first experience through the five senses became the beginning of my memory.
